■Contributing to Business Opportunities for Europe’s Leading Companies in the Green and Low-Carbon Technology Sector in Cooperation with the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation

The EU Business Hub is an EU-funded initiative aimed at creating business opportunities between leading European SMEs and start-ups and Japanese companies. At SMART ENERGY WEEK / GREEN TRANSFORMATION WEEK, held from Wednesday, 19 February to Friday, 21 February 2025, the programme exhibited jointly with the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation under the banner of the “EU Green Transition Pavilion.” This marked the second business mission to Japan under the EU Business Hub programme, through which visiting European companies can benefit from individual coaching, matching events, and other programme support during their stay in Japan.

■Next Business Mission

The EU Business Hub will hold its third business mission at JAPAN IT WEEK 2025, which will take place from Wednesday, 23 April to Friday, 25 April 2025. At this event, Europe’s leading companies in the fields of digital, software, cybersecurity, and AI will exhibit at the EU Pavilion and engage in business matching activities.

■Cooperation with the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation

The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation was established in 1987 by the European Commission (DG GROW) and the Government of Japan (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, formerly MITI) to promote all forms of industrial, trade, and investment cooperation between Japan and the EU. The EU Green Transition Pavilion at SMART ENERGY WEEK / GX WEEK and the EU-Japan Green Transition - Business Matching event at SAKURA DEEPTECH SHIBUYA were organised with the cooperation of the Centre’s Green Business Mission.

In addition, the dedicated online platform “EU-Japan Green Transition,” provided by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, was jointly operated and supported by JETRO / J-Bridge. To facilitate efficient business matching between Japanese and European participants, the platform also offered pre-event webinars and advance online and in-person meetings.

EU Business Hub, a business cooperation programme that connects European and Japanese companies active in the fields of digital solutions and green / low-carbon technologies, will participate in SMART ENERGY WEEK / GX Management Week, one of the world’s largest comprehensive exhibitions for new energy, as the second business mission bringing European companies to Japan. In collaboration with the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, more than 50 European companies will exhibit under the “EU Green Transition Pavilion” from Wednesday, 19 February to Friday, 21 February 2025.

In addition, on Tuesday, 18 February, the day before the exhibition opens, a kickoff matching event entitled “EU-Japan Green Transition - Business Matching” will be held at SAKURA DEEPTECH SHIBUYA. As a venue to promote Japan-Europe business partnerships aimed at open innovation and the creation of new business opportunities, the event will offer a comprehensive programme centered on 30-minute face-to-face meetings, similar to the onsite meeting sessions at the pavilion, as well as pitch sessions and networking opportunities, enabling participants to deepen exchanges with one another.

During the first business mission, held in December 2024, matching events between 40 European companies and Japanese companies were organized at SEMICON Japan 2024, one of Japan’s largest exhibitions in the semiconductor sector. In this second business mission, European companies with innovative technologies in the green and low-carbon technology sector will exhibit in Japan, with the aim of building long-term and strategic partnerships with Japanese companies through business meetings. Over the four years through 2027, the EU Business Hub plans to organize a total of 10 business missions in the fields of digital solutions and green / low-carbon technologies.

About the Second Business Mission: “EU Business Hub @ SMART ENERGY WEEK / GX Management Week”

As part of the second business mission, more than 50 leading European companies in the environmental and energy sectors, including those specializing in electrolyser technology, nano-coating technology, and blockchain technology, will exhibit at SMART ENERGY WEEK / GX Management Week, to be held from Wednesday, 19 February to Friday, 21 February 2025. Furthermore, on Tuesday, 18 February, the day before the exhibition, an onsite business matching event in Tokyo, “EU-Japan Green Transition - Business Matching,” will also be आयोजित as a kickoff event for the pavilion exhibition.

To support efficient business matching with European companies, a dedicated online platform has been introduced.

By registering your company profile in advance, you will be able to browse detailed information on the participating European companies. In addition, by using the platform’s chat function and online pre-events to contact companies of interest in advance, you can arrange meetings smoothly and maintain ongoing communication both before and after their visit to Japan.

First Business Mission to Japan Achieves Matching Between 40 European and Japanese Companies

The EU Business Hub, a European Union (EU) business cooperation programme supporting European companies active in the fields of digital solutions and green and low-carbon technologies, held a matching event at the EU Pavilion during SEMICON Japan 2024, one of Japan’s largest exhibitions in the semiconductor sector, which took place from Wednesday, 11 December to Friday, 13 December 2024, as the first business mission to Japan. The First Business Mission, “EU Business Hub @ SEMICON Japan 2024”

Bringing European Companies with Cutting-Edge Technologies to Japan

The Delegation of the European Union to Japan is launching the EU Business Hub, a business cooperation programme that matches European companies and Japanese companies active in the fields of digital solutions and green and low-carbon technologies. As part of the programme’s core activities, the first business mission, which will bring representatives of European companies to Japan, will feature 41 European companies exhibiting in the EU Pavilion at SEMICON Japan 2024, one of Japan’s largest trade shows for the semiconductor industry, to be held over three days from Wednesday, 11 December to Friday, 13 December 2024 at Tokyo Big Sight.

During this inaugural business mission, European companies will showcase their innovative technologies and aim to build long-term and strategic partnerships with Japanese companies through business meetings. Over the four years through 2027, the EU Business Hub plans to organize a total of 10 business missions in the fields of digital solutions and green and low-carbon technologies.

Background to the Establishment of the EU Business Hub

As advanced technology industries such as digital solutions and green and low-carbon technologies continue to develop globally, Asia, and Japan in particular, is attracting attention as the next major growth market.

To foster innovation in these industrial sectors by matching European companies seeking to expand into the Asian market with Japanese companies looking to adopt cutting-edge technologies, the Delegation of the European Union to Japan has launched the EU Business Hub.

From 2024 to 2027, the EU Business Hub plans to organize a total of 10 business missions, through which representatives of European companies in the fields of digital solutions and green and low-carbon technologies will visit Japan and engage directly in business matching with Japanese companies.

About the First Business Mission: “EU Business Hub @ SEMICON Japan 2024”

As part of the first business mission, 41 European companies from 21 countries will exhibit in the EU Pavilion at SEMICON Japan 2024, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from Wednesday, 11 December to Friday, 13 December 2024. These companies possess technologies such as electric motors, high-resolution encoder technology, nano-surface engineering technology, and IP core design technology.

駐日欧州連合（EU）代表部は、デジタルソリューションおよびグリーン・低炭素技術分野で活躍する欧州企業と日本企業をマッチングさせる企業間協力事業「EU ビジネスハブ」を立ち上げます。また、同事業の中核を成す、欧州企業代表者が訪日する「ビジネスミッション」の第１弾として、2024年12月11日（水）～13日（金）の3日間、東京ビッグサイトで開催される半導体業界における日本最大級の展示会「SEMICON Japan 2024」にて、EUパビリオンに欧州企業４１社が出展いたします。

初回となる今回のビジネスミッションにおいて欧州企業は革新的な技術を展示し、日本企業との商談を通じて長期的かつ戦略的な連携関係を構築することを目指しております。2027年までの4年間で「EU ビジネスハブ」はデジタルソリューション、グリーン・低炭素技術の両分野で合計10ものビジネスミッションを企画する予定です。
