Hydrogen and Clean Energy Solutions Driving Japan’s Green Transformation

The Delegation of the European Union to Japan is pleased to announce the establishment of the “EU Green Transition Pavilion” at H2 & FC EXPO [International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo], part of SMART ENERGY WEEK [Autumn] 2025, one of Japan’s largest comprehensive exhibitions for energy and environmental technologies, to be held at Makuhari Messe over three days from Wednesday, September 17 to Friday, September 19, 2025. Approximately 50 innovative European SMEs and start-ups will participate in the pavilion, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions.

This business mission is being carried out as part of the EU Business Hub initiative, launched in 2024 with EU funding, and marks the programme’s second participation in SMART ENERGY WEEK. Around 50 exhibiting companies are European innovators specializing in clean energy technologies, energy systems, environmental monitoring, analysis and assessment equipment and devices, and circular solutions.

In the Seventh Strategic Energy Plan approved by the Japanese Cabinet in February 2025, Japan set a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 73% by fiscal year 2040. Through dialogue and exchange during this business mission, Japanese companies are expected to gain exposure to innovative European technologies and expertise, helping to build long-term and strategic partnerships for a sustainable future and contributing to Japan’s energy transition and climate action goals.
